Privacy Policy — Cambridge Housing Map

Effective July 9, 2026

Cambridge Housing Map is a free, independent project — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of Cambridge. You can use the entire map without giving us any personal information. The only time we collect anything about you is if you choose to sign up for email notifications.

What we collect

If you subscribe, we collect your email address and your notification preferences (how often, and whether to include community-reported projects). Nothing else — no name, no profile.

How we use it

To send the email digest you asked for, and occasionally to announce significant updates to the map or changes to this privacy policy. We email a confirmation link first — you're not subscribed until you click it.

Where it's stored

Your email and preferences are stored with Kit (kit.com), the service that delivers our emails, under Kit's privacy terms. We don't keep your email on our own servers or in our code.

Unsubscribing and deletion

Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. To have your address deleted entirely, unsubscribe or email [email protected].

We don't sell or share your data

Never sold, rented, or traded — only handled by Kit to deliver the emails you requested.

No tracking

The map uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. Map tiles come from CARTO and address search from OpenStreetMap's Nominatim; these receive standard request info (like your IP) to serve those features, under their own policies. Street View images are proxied through our own server, so Google doesn't receive your details directly.

Changes

We may update this policy; the effective date above changes when we do.
